Discovering efficiencies through purchasing and procurement consolidation
Customer Success with HSM
Purchased by Westmont Hospitality Group, a long-standing HSM customer, The Vincent Hotel Group (TVHG) had no standardized procurement system in place. In many cases, Netherlands-based TVHG did not procure centrally or have visibility to the hotel-level purchases of their 11 full and focused service hotels. This left the group vulnerable to inefficiencies, missed value-based opportunities and guest service impacts that can result from inconsistent procurement products, sources and systems.
In January 2016, a thorough benchmark and analysis of TVHG’s spend was conducted. HSM identified potential quick wins in terms of savings for the group. These easy changes to suppliers and processes resulted in a forecasted 14.67% annual savings across six categories. From there, a dedicated HSM team member was allocated to the properties to offer operational support at the global, regional and local levels. This allowed for a smooth integration into the HSM buying programs. The eProcurement system, BirchStreet, was implemented across all TVHG properties, and HSM continues to assist the group on a regular basis to ensure they understand the new system and optimize their saving potential.
With regard to purchasing, TVHG was seeking supplier consolidation advice in order to obtain more competitive pricing in the Dutch market. With extensive market-specific knowledge and procurement experience, HSM was able to successfully support this effort and will continue to help TVHG discover a continuous return on investment through existing and new saving programs, compliance and account reporting and best practice solutions.
HSM has filled in a gap in our organization with regard to purchasing agreements and improved our existing supplier agreements in ways we weren’t able to do ourselves without their support.
